Some people don't like it because of how it looks but I believe that most Japanese people love it. There are many small restaurant specializing in unagi but the quality of the restaurant oftentimes varies. It is better to enjoy the natural unagi rather than farmed unagi but it is sometimes hard to find the right place even for Japanese too.
